Matthew J. Bellamy is a Professor of History at Carleton University, specializing in Canadian business, political, and cultural history. He holds a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Carleton University. His research focuses on entrepreneurship, government-business relations, and the history of consumption, with notable work on brewing history and Labatt’s Brewery.
Notable achievements include the 2006 National Business Book Award for Profiting the Crown, and the 2024 BHC Philip Scranton Best Article Award. He has been recognized repeatedly for excellence in teaching, including TVO’s Best Lecturer finalist (2009) and the Capital Educators’ Award (2007).
