Matthew Hoggatt is an Instructor in the School of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Security at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Gulf Park Campus. He holds a Master's in Criminal Justice from William Carey University (2020) and a Bachelor's from USM's Complete to Compete program (2018). Prior to academia, he served over 20 years as a law enforcement officer in patrol, community policing, and felony investigations. He also volunteers with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as a Team ADAM Consultant and the DNA Doe Project, focusing on investigative genetic genealogy.
Professional affiliations include the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners, and the Southern Criminal Justice Association. His courses taught span foundational criminal justice topics, police methods, criminal investigations, juvenile justice, and research planning.
