Matthew Georgiou

Matthew Georgiou is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Pennsylvania State University. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biological and Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Exeter, followed by an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

His research focuses on bacterial secretion systems, including T6SS in Vibrio vulnificus and T3SS regulation in Salmonella typhimurium. He has also developed bioinformatic methods for discovering novel natural products. Georgiou's work bridges microbiology, molecular biology, and computational approaches to understand pathogenic mechanisms.
