Matthew G. Montague

Matthew G. Montague is a Professor and Coordinator of Music Education at Pittsburg State University (PSU), where he has served since 1999. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in choral music education, music appreciation, and music theory. As Coordinator, he oversees student teachers, supervises graduate research, and advises the Collegiate NAfME chapter. He collaborates with the College of Education and chairs Kansas State Department of Education Music Program Review teams.

• B.M. in Music Education, Brigham Young University

His research focuses on teacher induction processes, learning acquisition, and social learning systems, leveraging his fluency in Spanish to engage diverse populations. He has conducted choral performances across the U.S. and Europe, including work with the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus. He led an Exploratory Study Abroad in Peru and taught at La Universidad Católica in Paraguay.

He has served as a clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor in Kansas and the western U.S. Professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and Society for Research in Music Education (SRME).
