James Clanton

James Clanton is a Professor of Music at Pittsburg State University, specializing in percussion performance and education. He directs the PSU Pride of the Plains Drumline and PSU Percussion Ensemble. His roles include teaching percussion majors, conducting ensembles, and performing with orchestras such as the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra and the Tulsa Signature Symphony Orchestra.

Educations: D.M.A. (University of Missouri-Kansas City), M.M. (University of Missouri-Kansas City), B.M.E. (Oklahoma City University).

Research interests include traditional marimba music of Mexico and Guatemala, international performance collaborations, and music pedagogy. He has performed internationally in Paraguay, Italy, and across the U.S., including festivals like the Sunflower Music Festival and OKMozart Festival.
