Dr. Matthew Chambers is an Associate Professor at the University of Warsaw's American Studies Center. His research focuses on modernist print cultures, publishing history, and 20th-century institutionalism with expertise in H.G. Wells and transatlantic intellectual networks.
Publications include monographs on London's modernist bookshops and H.G. Wells' institutional critiques. His work examines tensions between moral and institutional internationalism in interwar debates about global governance frameworks.
Current MSCA-funded project investigates archival materials on Wells' 'Open Conspiracy' concept and its reception among progressive societies. Research analyzes how supranational institutions were contested through alternative world-state proposals.
Honors include a Modernist Studies Association Travel Grant and University of Warsaw's 'New Ideas' grant. Serves as Editor-in-Chief of The New Americanist journal and organizes graduate seminars on transatlantic print cultures.
