Matteo Benassi

Matteo Benassi is an Instructor of Italian at the University of Kentucky's Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures and Cultures, housed within the College of Arts & Sciences. He teaches courses at all levels, including Elementary and Intermediate Italian, Italian Culture, and Italian Cinema (focusing on immigration and diversity). He co-directs the Italy Study Abroad Program "Italy Past and Present."

Education: Ph.D. in Italian from Rutgers University (2020).

Research interests include 20th/21st century Italian poetry, film studies, translation theory, posthumanism, and the sociocultural role of literature. Affiliated with the Italian program, International Film Studies, and the American Association for Italian Studies.
