Dr. Matt Dougherty is an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Central European University (CEU), affiliated with the FWF Cluster of Excellence 'Knowledge in Crisis'. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge (2019), alongside an MPhil from Cambridge, an MA from Virginia Tech, and a BSc in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
His research focuses on epistemology, ethics, and the history of philosophy, with particular emphasis on intersections between philosophy of mind and action. Key areas include know-how, virtue ethics, moral psychology, and figures like Henri Bergson, Martin Heidegger, Iris Murdoch, and Gilbert Ryle. Current projects include editing The Rylean Mind (Routledge) and a volume on the 'Oxford Quartet' (Elizabeth Anscombe et al.).
