Matt Burgermaster is a Lecturer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's School of Architecture, with additional teaching responsibilities at Parsons School of Design. He holds a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University.
His research examines architecture as spatial practice intersecting social concerns and ecological processes. Through his design office MABU, he develops projects that transform resource constraints into design opportunities, focusing on material reuse and public value transformation.
Burgermaster has received significant recognition including the MacDowell Fellowship and New Practices New York award. His writings appear in the Journal of Architectural Education and The New York Review of Architecture.
