About
Mats Andersson is a Professor of Polymer Chemistry at Chalmers University of Technology. He holds a PhD from Chalmers (1995) and completed postdoctoral research at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He became a Professor in 2004 and has led the Division of Applied Chemistry (2008–2012). His research focuses on polymer chemistry, photovoltaic materials, and conjugated polymers for energy applications. Key contributions include advancements in solar cell materials, electrochromic polymers, and polymer-based energy storage systems.
He received the Arrheniusplaketten (2011) from the Swedish Chemical Society and is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) since 2012. His work spans interdisciplinary areas such as biomaterials, optoelectronics, and nanotechnology. Over 179 publications highlight his expertise in polymer design, device engineering, and material characterization.
Research interests include optimizing conjugated polymers for high-efficiency solar cells, developing stable polymer blends for energy storage, and exploring novel applications of organic electronics. His labs focus on experimental and computational studies of polymer morphology, charge transport, and material durability.
