Mathias Møllebæk

Mathias Møllebæk serves as a Postdoc and Guest Researcher at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Copenhagen, affiliated with both the Copenhagen Centre for Regulatory Science and Social and Clinical Pharmacy research group. His work centers on regulatory science of medicines and digital health technologies within European pharmaceutical governance frameworks.

He earned his PhD in Regulatory Science from the University of Copenhagen on January 26, 2021, with a dissertation examining Danish general practitioners' use of emergent drug safety information, complemented by an MA in Rhetoric. His research bridges evidentiary support for regulatory decision-making with critical societal analysis of pharmaceutical governance.

Dr. Møllebæk's primary investigations focus on risk minimization in medicines, EU pharmaceutical policy, and digital health regulation. Current projects include analyzing postmarketing risk-benefit communication practices, contributing to the IMI-funded Gravitate Health initiative for digital drug safety information, and studying stakeholder perceptions of EU digital medical device regulations through qualitative empirical methods.

His recent publications reveal concentrated expertise in EU regulatory implementation challenges, particularly regarding risk communication integration into clinical practice, digital transformation of drug information systems, and AI liability frameworks. The work consistently employs mixed-methods approaches across multinational contexts to address evolving pharmaceutical regulation in the digital era.

He actively engages with the regulatory science community through conference organization (including the 2025 Digital Endpoints in Regulatory Science event) and presentations on risk communication practices, demonstrating significant involvement in European pharmaceutical policy discourse and educational innovation within pharmacy academia.
