Anita Mathias is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. She currently serves as Vice President, Clinical Pharmacology and Development, at Gossamer Bio in San Diego, CA, where she leads early and late-stage clinical drug development programs in Immunology, Inflammation, and Oncology. Previously, she was Executive Director and Head of the Clinical and Quantitative Pharmacology Department at Gilead Sciences, Inc., overseeing 12 global regulatory approvals.

Her research focuses on clinical pharmacokinetics, translational medicine, and drug development strategies across Hematology, Immunology, Infectious Disease, Liver Disease, and Oncology. At Gossamer Bio, she specializes in early clinical drug development, including lead candidate dose selection, proof-of-concept studies, and safety assessments. Her career spans 15 years at Gilead Sciences, Inc., where she built a scientific team supporting regulatory filings and drug development pipelines.
Dr. Mathias is a co-author of over 40 research articles and has presented at numerous national and international conferences. She actively mentors Clinical Pharmacologists and Drug Developers and participates in inclusion initiatives such as Women in Science and STEAM events to promote career development for young adults and women.
