About
Massimo Lazzari is a Full Professor (Catedrático) of Physical Chemistry at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Departamento de Química Física and the Facultade de Química. He leads research in polymer materials, conservation of cultural heritage, and nanotechnology. His work includes developing protective coatings for stone and marble, studying polymer degradation in artworks, and advancing SERS-based analytical techniques. Previously a Ramón y Cajal Fellow (2005–2010) and Marie Curie Fellow (2003–2004), he holds a doctorate from the Consorzio fra le Università di Genova, Pavia e Torino (1996).
Research Interests: He focuses on polymer degradation mechanisms, non-invasive analytical methods for art conservation, and nanomaterials applications. Key projects include SERS substrates for detecting degradation markers, protective coatings for heritage materials, and interdisciplinary approaches to safeguarding cultural assets.
Publications highlight his contributions to polymer science, including studies on ABS plastics, epoxy-silica composites, and fluorinated copolymers. Awards include prestigious fellowships, and his work bridges material science with art conservation.
