Mary Sherman is a Part-Time Lecturer in Studio Art at Boston College's Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.A. from Boston College and an M.F.A. from New York University. Her research focuses on transdisciplinary art forms, integrating technology with fine art to create immersive installations. Sherman is also the founder and director of TransCultural Exchange, a global non-profit organization, and has held roles such as interim Associate Director of MIT’s Art, Culture, and Technology program (ACT).

Her work combines robotics, micro-processing, and sensory processes to transform static art into experiential performances. Sherman has received grants such as the Fulbright Specialist award and residencies in France, Greece, and Taiwan. She has also curated projects like Florian Dombois' uboc No. 1 and StuVi2 at Boston University (2013).
Her awards include recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts and multiple residencies. Sherman’s publications include What if You Could Hear a Painting (MIT Press, 2016) and International Opportunities in the Arts (Vernon Press, 2019). She actively contributes to art criticism and has spoken at Harvard, MIT, and international conferences.
