Dr. Mary Lou Batty is a Teaching Professor at the University of New Brunswick's Faculty of Nursing. She teaches undergraduate courses in community/population health, maternity nursing, and preceptorship, employing strength-based approaches that promote health equity and social justice.
Her research interests span maternal child health, perinatal education, immunization, harm reduction, and environmental health. Recent publications focus on cultural humility in newborn assessment, vaccination training, and anti-racist pedagogy.
Dr. Batty holds a PhD and MN from UNB, a Diploma in University Teaching from UNB, a BA from Dalhousie University, and a BN from UNB. She serves as Co-Executive Director of the Health and Education Research Group (HERG).
Teaching grants include funding for newborn assessment simulation ($24,515) and STBBI clinic education ($2,000).
