Marwan El-Rifaai is a researcher affiliated with the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. Since October 2023 until June 2025, he served as a research assistant at the Chair of Civil Law, Law of the Data Economy, Data Protection, and Artificial Intelligence. Previously, he worked as a research assistant at the Tölle Wagenknecht law firm in Bonn (since November 2022), where he co-hosts the podcast Kaffeerecht. He holds a law degree with a focus on Economics and Competition from the Universities of Bonn and Helsinki, and completed his First State Examination in September 2023.
His research interests center on data economy regulation, AI legal frameworks, civil law, and energy law. He has practical experience through internships at Flick Gocke Schaumburg (energy law) and the Federal Network Agency. He is also associated with the Research Center for Legal Issues of New Technologies and Data Law (ForTech e.V.), contributing to interdisciplinary legal research on emerging technologies.
