Martin Steinwand

Dr. Martin Steinwand is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Government at the University of Essex. He previously held an Assistant Professor position at Stony Brook University and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. His research focuses on international political institutions, foreign aid, civil war dynamics, and spatial econometric methodologies.

He currently offers academic support hours during Spring Term 2025 on Tuesdays from 15:30–17:30 at location 5.418 on the Colchester Campus.

Dr. Steinwand’s work bridges quantitative methods with international relations, emphasizing institutional analysis and conflict studies. His research applies spatial econometrics to understand geopolitical challenges, particularly in conflict-affected regions and development aid allocation.
