Martin Hubbard

Professor Martin Hubbard is a Visiting Professor at Loughborough University's School of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering, while serving as a senior member of the Security Sciences Department at Dstl (Fort Halstead). His work bridges academia and defense, focusing on pulsed power and directed energy applications. He actively contributes to the UK RF-DEW community through collaboration with the Pulsed Power Group.

His research interests center on high-powered microwave technologies, directed energy systems, and their defense applications. As UK co-chair of the UK/US bilateral meeting on High-Powered Microwave applications under the Directed Energy Professional Society (DEPS), he coordinates international research efforts, ensuring alignment with UK defense and MoD requirements.

Martin holds prestigious awards including FDEPS, FIET, and MIEEE. His role at Dstl and Loughborough fosters strategic alignment between academic research and military R&D priorities.
