His research investigates genetic differences between invasive and commensal isolates of coagulase-negative staphylococci, particularly Staphylococcus haemolyticus, with emphasis on polysaccharide capsule (CP) genes and biofilm formation. This work explores how these factors influence infection potential and immune evasion in immunocompromised children.
Dr. Christensen contributes to teaching as a medlærer (assistant teacher) for first-year biomedical students in courses covering biomedicine, biochemistry, and biology. His recent genomic research on Escherichia coli antimicrobial resistance trends (2002–17) was published in Lancet Microbe.
