Martin Boyce is a Professor of Sculpture at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HFBK Hamburg). His work explores the legacy of Modernism, the interplay between nature and culture, and the boundaries between reality and fiction through sculptural installations, wall paintings, and photography. Key projects include 'A Thousand Future Blossoms' (Galeries Lafayette, Paris, 2019), a major outdoor commission at Mount Stuart (Isle of Bute, 2019), and a 30-year retrospective at Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh (2024).
Boyce’s research interests focus on reinterpreting Modernist ideals, urban spaces, and the aesthetic imagination. He has received prestigious awards, including the Turner Prize in 2011 and representation at the Venice Biennale in 2009.
