Martha Gray is the Whitaker Professor in Biomedical Engineering at MIT, with joint appointments in the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES) and the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology (HST). She directs MIT LinQ, an initiative focused on accelerating early-career researchers' impact through multi-institutional ventures.
Her research interests span biomedical engineering, medical imaging, and osteoarthritis, with significant contributions to educational innovation. Professor Gray previously directed the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology program for over 13 years, becoming the first woman to lead an MIT science or engineering department.
She is recognized as a Fellow of AAAS, BMES, and AIMBE, and serves as associate editor of the Annual Reviews of Biomedical Engineering. Her educational background includes a BS in Computer Science from Michigan State University and SM/PhD degrees from MIT.
