Zen Chu is a Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Innovation at the MIT Sloan School of Management and the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences & Technology program. He serves as Faculty Director of MIT's Hacking Medicine Initiative and co-created the graduate course HST.978 MIT Healthcare Ventures, which teaches medical AI innovation, digital health models, and venture capital investing. His consulting spans pharma, medical tech, corporate venture capital, and healthcare systems undergoing digital transformation.
Zen is a co-founder and managing director of Accelerated Medical Ventures, where he builds early-stage medical technology and healthcare service companies. He cofounded 3D-Matrix Medical Inc., a regenerative medicine company with a successful IPO in 2011, and has partnered with renowned scientists to launch five medical technology ventures. His affiliations include the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship and collaborations with Harvard Medical School, Harvard’s Wyss Institute, and Hewlett-Packard.
He earned a B.S. in Biomedical/Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from Yale University. His work has been transplanted to UCLA and Yale Medical Schools, and he has managed new ventures across Boston, Silicon Valley, and China.
