Marta Villa

Marta Villa is a Research Fellow in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Trento's Department of Sociology and Social Research. She holds a PhD in Contemporary History (University of Italian Switzerland) and a PhD in Contemporary Anthropology (University of Milan-Bicocca). Her research focuses on Alpine cultural anthropology, food systems, collective domains, and environmental sustainability.

Education highlights include a PhD in Contemporary History (2015) examining valley floor development in the Piana Rotaliana, and a PhD in Contemporary Anthropology (2011) analyzing fertility rituals in Südtirol. She has conducted extensive research on Alpine agricultural landscapes, territorial governance, and intangible heritage preservation.

Her research interests span ecological anthropology, legal anthropology, and applied methodologies. Notable projects include leading the 'Milk and the territory of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol in an anthropological perspective' (2022–2024) and contributing to the European Project ECOVINEGOALS (2021–2022). She has coordinated over 20 academic conferences on topics like climate change, collective domains, and food anthropology.

Professional roles include teaching in cultural anthropology, qualitative methods, and applied research at multiple institutions. She holds leadership positions in organizations like the Trentino Alto Adige/Südtirol Territorial Study Centre and the CoACT Research Unit. Her work bridges anthropological theory with community-based initiatives, emphasizing sustainability and cultural preservation.
