Marco Bassi is an Associate Professor at the University of Palermo, affiliated with the School of Psychological, Pedagogical, Physical Exercise and Training Sciences. His research focuses on Cultural Anthropology with particular emphasis on Intercultural Education, African Studies, and Community Conserved Areas.
His scholarly work examines:
- Political Anthropology of Ethiopian systems
- Traditional Governance models like the Oromo Gadaa system
- Development Ethics and community-based conservation
- Intercultural Integration in European education
- Oral History and knowledge transmission
The majority of his publications address community-territory relationships, democratic institutions, and cultural preservation in both historical and contemporary contexts.

As part of his Third Mission activities, he serves as President of the Italian Society of Applied Anthropology (SIAA) and Council Member of the ICCA Consortium for Southern Europe and the Mediterranean.
