Marta Torbicka

Marta Torbicka is an Assistant Professor in the 2nd Department of Sinology at the Institute of Literary Studies, Faculty of Humanities, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Born in 1998, she is a young but accomplished Sinologist who has established herself as a leading translator and scholar of Chinese literature in Poland.

Her research interests span multiple dimensions of Chinese literary tradition, with particular emphasis on contemporary Chinese fiction, Taiwanese literature, and literary translation. She demonstrates expertise in Republican Era literature, feminist perspectives in Chinese writing, rural narratives, and the intersection of traditional Chinese mythology with modern storytelling techniques. Her work reveals deep engagement with authors like Yan Lianke, Lu Xun, Lao She, Xiao Hong, and contemporary writers such as Li Ang and Xia Jia.

Torbicka's scholarly output shows a consistent pattern of high-quality translations published in prestigious venues.
