Dr. Markus Hahn is a Research Fellow at The Australian National University's POLIS: The Centre for Social Policy Research. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Melbourne and an MSc from the University of Bochum. His research focuses on labour economics, health economics, economic inequality, social policy, and survey methodology. He convenes the Master of Social Research Methods program and teaches applied econometrics and survey methods across postgraduate programs. He serves as an associate editor for the Australian Journal of Social Issues (AJSI), advises the Australian Survey of Social Attitudes (AuSSA), and represents ANU on WAPOR's Asia-Pacific chapter.
Before joining ANU in 2022, he worked on the HILDA Survey at the University of Melbourne. His research examines topics like gambling impacts, casual employment effects, top income measurement, and emigration predictors. He has authored/co-authored over 10 peer-reviewed publications and led projects on gambling harm profiles and longitudinal data analysis.
