Prof. Markus Becker is a renowned pianist and chamber musician, holding a professorship at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media since 1993. He specializes in piano literature from Bach to contemporary composers, with a focus on rediscovering neglected works and integrating jazz improvisation into classical performance. His international career includes collaborations with leading orchestras and festivals such as the Ruhr Piano Festival and Salzburg Easter Festival.
Becker studied under Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and received mentorship from Alfred Brendel. He is committed to education, supervising a class of pianists and chamber ensembles that excel in competitions like the German Music Competition and the European Chamber Music Competition. He founded the HMTMH Chamber Music Festival, which explores chamber music through eight concerts each summer semester.
