Dr. Mark U. Reimer serves as Distinguished Professor of Music and the George and Mary Torggler Professor of Music at Christopher Newport University, where he also directs the Music program and conducts the Wind Ensemble. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in wind conducting and literature while maintaining an active international profile as a guest conductor and clinician.

- Doctor of Music (DM) in Conducting from Indiana University (first recipient of this degree)
- Master of Music (MM) in Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music
- Bachelor of Music (BM) in Music Education from Drake University (voted "Most Outstanding Senior" by faculty)
