Mark S. Lundstrom

Mark S. Lundstrom is the Don and Carol Scifres Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, serving as Senior Advisor to the President and Purdue’s Chief Semiconductor Officer. He holds positions at the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy. His research focuses on semiconductor device physics, nanoelectronics, and computational electronics, with contributions to transistor scaling limits and nanoHUB initiatives.

Research interests include carrier transport, nanoelectronic device physics, and energy conversion technologies. He pioneered nanoHUB, a platform offering simulation tools to 2 million+ users annually. Lundstrom has authored five books, including Fundamentals of Carrier Transport, and over 300 research papers. His honors include IEEE Fellow, APS Fellow, and membership in the U.S. National Academy of Engineering. In 2024, he was honored as Indiana’s “Sagamore of the Wabash” for semiconductor contributions.

Lundstrom’s research group explores nanoelectronics, transistor alternatives (e.g., carbon nanotubes, spintronics), and energy technologies. He maintains active collaborations through labs and global networks.
