About
Mark Lundstrom is the Don and Carol Scifres Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. He serves as Principal Advisor on Microelectronics to the Executive Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and sits on the Executive Committee of the American Semiconductor Academy. Previously, he served as Acting Dean for Purdue's College of Engineering in 2020, which houses the largest top-5 ranked graduate engineering program and top-10 ranked undergraduate program in the U.S.
His research centers on electronic and thermal transport in semiconductor devices, with pioneering contributions to nanoscale transistor design enabling 10-nanometer manufacturing. Lundstrom founded nanoHUB in 1995—an early cloud-based platform providing open-access simulation tools and educational resources for microelectronics that now serves over two million users annually worldwide.
His major recognitions include:
- Semiconductor Industry Association’s University Researcher Award (2005)
- Election to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (2009) for leadership in microelectronics and nanoelectronics through research, education, and cyberinfrastructure innovation
Lundstrom actively shapes national semiconductor strategy through the American Semiconductor Academy and advocates for U.S. chip manufacturing capabilities. His nanoHUB initiative remains foundational for global microelectronics education and collaboration, directly supporting workforce development with industry partners.
