About
Professor Mark Kobrak is affiliated with the Department of Chemistry at Brooklyn College, part of The City University of New York. He has held academic positions at Brooklyn College since 2001, including Assistant Professor (2001-2006), Associate Professor (2006-2013), and Professor (2013-present).
Education:
- PhD in Chemistry from the University of Chicago (1997)
- MS in Chemistry from the University of Chicago (1994)
- BA in Chemistry from Northwestern University (1992)
Research Interests:Mark Kobrak's work centers on ionic liquids, electrostatic interactions, and solvation dynamics. His research explores thermodynamic models for metal ion extraction, nanoscale structure in ionic systems, and computational modeling of electrolyte confinement. He combines experimental and theoretical approaches to study interfacial phenomena, molecular dynamics, and separation processes.
Publication Trends:His publications from 2019-2012 show sustained focus on ionic liquids, with applications in metal extraction, nanofluidics, and electrolyte modeling. He has also contributed extensively to educational materials, including multiple editions of general chemistry laboratory manuals.
