Mark K. Ameli is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of West Los Angeles, teaching courses in Arbitration, Mediation, and Torts since January 2017. He holds a J.D. from the University of West Los Angeles (1980), an M.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California (1972), and a B.A. in Economics from UC Berkeley (1970). His expertise lies in cross-cultural mediation, dispute resolution, and legal education.
Professionally, Ameli has been a practicing attorney since 1980, specializing in business litigation, personal injury, and workers' compensation. He served as a judge pro tem in the Los Angeles Superior Court (1994–2009) and is a full-time mediator with ADR Services, Inc. since 2015. He founded Diversified Dispute Resolution (DDR) in 2005 and is a certified provider of California State Bar Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars on cross-cultural negotiation and mediation.
He has mediated thousands of cases and lectures widely on mediation, including at USC and Mediators Beyond Borders in Istanbul. His Rotary Club leadership and advocacy in cross-cultural mediation and gang violence prevention underscore his community engagement.
