Mark J. Spoonamore, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He serves as Chief of the Spine Surgery Service at LAC+USC Medical Center and practices at the USC Spine Center, specializing in complex spine disorders such as spine tumors, trauma, and deformities like scoliosis/kyphosis. His expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery and complex revision spine surgery.
Dr. Spoonamore’s research focuses on spinal deformities, spinal cord injuries, and disc replacement surgery. He has authored publications on topics spanning scoliosis management, postoperative complications, and spinal trauma. A key highlight of his academic contributions is the Russell Hibbs Award for clinical science presentation from the Scoliosis Research Society.
He is a member of the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a reviewer for the journal Spine.
