Dr. Mark Gilger serves as Assistant Dean of Clinical Education and Clinical Core Site Director at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. Previously, he held roles as Pediatrician-in-Chief at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio (2013–2019) and Professor/Vice Chair of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. He currently holds the Sister Angela Clare Moran CCVI Endowed Chair of Pediatrics at CHofSA.
Education: MD from Creighton University, residency in pediatrics at the University of Rochester, and fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine.
Research interests include pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition, with expertise in endoscopy and medical education. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Professional affiliations include the Texas Pediatric Society, North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASPGHAN), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and American Gastroenterology Association (AGA).
