Claudia Phen, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition, with a focus on gastrointestinal polyposis, hereditary GI cancer syndromes, and liver diseases. Dr. Phen earned her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine, completed a pediatrics residency at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and a pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at UT Southwestern and Children’s Health. Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology, she joined UT Southwestern’s faculty in 2021.
Her research interests include gastrointestinal polyposis syndromes, hereditary GI cancer syndromes, and liver diseases. Dr. Phen is actively involved in the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition (NASPGHAN), contributing to the Pediatric Polyposis Special Interest Group. Her work emphasizes clinical advancements in diagnosis and management strategies, such as the use of capsule endoscopy and mTOR inhibitors in polyposis cases.
