Mark Collins is a Distinguished Lecturer in the Department of Marketing at the University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business. He joined UT in 1999 after 20 years in hotel management with major chains like Sheraton and Hilton, and previously founded Rocky Top Books. His expertise spans Brand & Category Management, Marketing Strategy, and Strategic Management.
Education: PhD in Management (University of Tennessee, 2014), MBA in Finance & Marketing (Middle Tennessee State University, 1992), BA in Economics (University of Tennessee, 1981). He is also a Certified Hotel Administrator.
Teaching focuses on marketing management, consumer behavior, and analytics. He has received over 10 teaching awards including the Bank of America Faculty Leadership Award and multiple excellence-in-teaching honors. His recent work includes pioneering virtual reality in education, highlighted in Yahoo Finance.
Serves as Director of the MS in Marketing Program (since 2022) and Director of Technology-Enhanced Education (since 2014). Fluent in Germanic languages.
