Dr. Mark Boons is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Knowledge, Information and Innovation within the School of Business and Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam (2013). His research focuses on digital innovation, crowdsourcing, gig economy dynamics, and digital platform organizations. Boons investigates how organizations leverage crowdsourcing for knowledge integration, process innovation, and addressing grand challenges like sustainability.
His work spans topics such as platform design impacts on service providers, algorithmic HR management, and the psychological drivers of crowd participation.
