Marion Preest

Marion Preest is the Pritzker Family Foundation Professor of Biology in the Department of Natural Sciences at Claremont Colleges. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Ecology and Systematics from Cornell University and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Zoology from Otago University, New Zealand.

Her research explores vertebrate physiology through comparative, integrative, and environmental approaches. Key focus areas include:

• Stress response mechanisms in reptiles
• Ion transport regulation in aquatic species
• Nitrogen excretion adaptations in birds
• Physiological ecology of vertebrates

Her publications in Nature, Journal of Experimental Zoology, and Physiological and Biochemical Zoology demonstrate expertise in experimental animal physiology, particularly regarding metabolic, reproductive, and osmoregulatory adaptations.
