Dr. Marie Gill is an Associate Professor and Director of the Margaret A. Newman Center for Nursing Theory at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing. With over 36 years of clinical experience and 27 years in nursing education, she has held leadership roles in academia and clinical practice.

Her research program focuses on health literacy interventions for medically underserved populations, integration of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) into nursing curricula, and application of nursing theory in education and clinical practice. She has led grant-supported projects to address health equity and theory-guided nursing education.
Dr. Gill has taught across undergraduate and graduate programs, including courses in nursing leadership, health equity research, qualitative methods, and nursing theory evaluation. She currently serves on the Southern Nursing Research Society Awards Committee and chairs the Virtual Nursing Theory Week Conference planning committee.
She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International (Beta-Theta Chapter), and Council for Advancement of Nursing Science. Her professional contributions include peer-review editorial work for journals like Research in Nursing and Health and Research and Theory for Nursing Practice.
