Maria Siopsis is a Professor of Mathematics at Maryville College's Division of Math & Computer Science. She has been employed since Fall 2001, teaching calculus sequences, differential equations, numerical analysis, and first-year core courses. As co-director of the NSF-funded Scots Science Scholars program with Dr. Angelia Gibson, she focuses on increasing STEM graduation rates and preparing students for successful careers or advanced degrees.
Her research interests center on mathematical ecology and applied mathematics, with educational outreach through resources like Learning Calculus, Mathematical Association of America, and SIAM. The program has demonstrably improved graduation rates and alumni placement in STEM fields.
