Maria Luisa Catoni is a Professor in Ancient Art History and Archaeology at the IMT School for Advanced Studies, Lucca (Italy), where she has held roles including Full Professor (2014–present) and Associate Professor (2011–2014). Her academic career includes positions such as Assistant Professor (Ricercatore) at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (2002–2009) and Senior Project Associate at The J. Paul Getty Research Institute (Los Angeles, 1994–1999).
Her research interests span classical art history, visual arts in antiquity, cultural heritage in educational systems, and data analysis applications in archaeology and cultural industries. She integrates classical tradition with interdisciplinary approaches to examine the intersection of art, political philosophy, and science in antiquity.
