Maria Gyure

Maria Gyure, MS, CGC, is a Lecturer and Director of the Genetic Counseling Master's Degree Program at the University of Connecticut's Department of Allied Health Sciences. A certified genetic counselor with laboratory science training, her work focuses on enhancing diversity in genetic services and community health integration.

Her research examines family health communication patterns, particularly in Latino communities and cancer risk contexts. Publications include studies on cancer causal attributions, family health history communication barriers, and interventions like the KinFact trial to improve cancer risk communication in families.
