Maria Fors

Maria Fors is a Researcher at the Department of Health, Medicine and Care (HMV) within the Faculty of Medicine at Linköping University. She works clinically in primary care while conducting research on physiotherapy interventions for low back pain.

Her research focuses on evaluating physiotherapy treatment effectiveness, identifying factors influencing clinical outcomes, and exploring mechanisms of effect in musculoskeletal pain management. She is actively involved in the BetterBack care program and the PainSMART project - both aiming to improve primary care approaches for back pain through evidence-based practices and digital education initiatives.

Key collaborations include working with Professor Allan Abbott, Professor Emeritus Birgitta Öberg, and Senior Lecturers Karin Schröder and Paul Enthoven. Her work is conducted through the Physiotherapy Unit which has strong ties between clinical practice and academic research.
