About
Maria Elisa Crestoni is a Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza". Her research focuses on bioinorganic chemistry, gas-phase ion chemistry, metabolomics, and vibrational spectroscopy with specialization in IRMPD spectroscopy and FT-ICR mass spectrometry.
Her research explores:
- Metal-antibiotic interactions
- Platinum-based drug mechanisms
- Non-covalent biomolecular complexes
- Characterization of bioactive compounds
- Gas-phase reaction dynamics
- Metabolic profiling of food products
Publications (2025-2022) reveal sustained work on platinum drug interactions with DNA/nucleophiles, antioxidant flavonoids, and metal complex reactivity using advanced spectroscopic and computational methods. She leads the FT-ICR-MS@SAPIENZA laboratory and teaches General and Inorganic Chemistry to pharmacy students.
