About
Maria Cherdantseva is a Research Fellow and Doctor of Philosophy student at the School of Earth and Oceans, The University of Western Australia. Her research focuses on magmatic systems, particularly the role of volatiles in sulfide mineralization processes.
- Education: B.Sc (2013) and M.Sc (2015) from Novosibirsk State University
- Industry Experience: Exploration Geologist at Ltd "Norilskgeologia" (2015-2019)
- Current Role: Investigating carbonate-sulfide interactions in orthomagmatic systems at CET
Maria's research explores magmatic petrology, mineralogy, and ore geology, with fieldwork experience across Russia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan. Her work contributes to understanding mineralization mechanisms in mafic intrusions and volatile-bearing phases.
Recent publications examine:
- Trace element and isotope composition of calcite/apatite/zircon in sulfide systems
- Carbonate-sulfide immiscibility in magmatic environments
- Frutexites morphology in Late Devonian reefs
- Volatiles' role in sulfide liquid transport
