Mari Pighini serves as a Sessional Instructor and Lecturer in the Early Childhood Education Program at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Education, where she has taught courses in early childhood education, early intervention, and special needs since 1997. She currently coordinates the online Master of Education (MED) cohorts for the Early Childhood Education specialization.
Her research examines the experiences of parents navigating early intervention and child development support services for children at-risk of developmental delays or disabilities, with particular emphasis on comparative urban and rural service delivery across British Columbia. This work integrates her 25+ years of frontline professional experience as a resource teacher and infant development consultant, creating strong bridges between academic theory and practical application in early childhood settings.
Dr. Pighini maintains active affiliation with UBC's Centre for Early Childhood Education & Research (CECER), participating in this interdisciplinary hub dedicated to advancing evidence-based practices and policy development in early childhood education through collaborative research initiatives.
