Jane White serves as an Online Instructor in the Early Childhood Education Program at the Centre for Early Childhood Education & Research (CECER) within the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Education. She currently teaches ECED400: Introduction to Early Childhood Education and Care, extending UBC's academic expertise to families, educators, and researchers to directly benefit young children.
Her educational journey includes returning to academia in her mid-50s to complete a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education at UBC in 2012—30 years after her undergraduate degree. This experience provided mental space to re-think, re-explore, and re-connect within UBC's supportive learning community.
White's professional focus centers on translating academic knowledge into practical early childhood education frameworks. She emphasizes rekindling wonder, curiosity, and professional commitment through accessible online pedagogy, with research interests spanning child development and family-educator collaboration models.
She actively contributes to CECER's mission through course instruction and community engagement, leveraging the Centre's infrastructure to bridge academic theory with real-world educational practice for young children.
