About
Mari Gabrielsen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine (Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology) at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. She is affiliated with the Pharmacology and Toxicology Research Group and contributes to the project on G-protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) as Drug Targets. Her research focuses on molecular modeling of neurotransmitter transporters and GPCRs, drug discovery, and ligand-receptor interactions.
Education includes a PhD from UiT (2011) specializing in serotonin transporter structure-function relationships using computational methods. Her work bridges pharmacology, computational chemistry, and structural biology.
Research interests encompass GABA B receptors, serotonin transporters, and drug development through virtual screening, molecular dynamics simulations, and homology modeling. Recent studies explore ligand binding mechanisms and drug target identification for neurological disorders.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches in drug discovery, including studies on GPCR structures, oxysterol receptor modulation, and antidepressant compound development. She collaborates internationally on projects involving molecular docking, receptor modeling, and in vitro validation.
Active in UiT’s Tromsø campus, her lab focuses on applying computational methods to address challenges in pharmacology and drug design. Current projects aim to advance understanding of GPCR activation mechanisms and developing novel therapeutic compounds.
