Emil Märcher-Rørsted

Emil Märcher-Rørsted is a PhD student and Guest Researcher at the University of Copenhagen's Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. His academic background includes an MSc in Medicinal Chemistry (2016) focused on bitopic inhibitors for β2-adrenergic receptors, and a BSc in Pharmacy investigating EAAT inhibitors.

Research interests center on:

• Design of serotonin receptor-targeted compounds
• GPCR ligand binding mechanisms
• Therapeutic applications of psychedelics
• Neuropharmacology of serotonergic systems
• Small molecule drug development

Publication analysis reveals consistent focus on serotonin receptor agonists (particularly 5-HT_2A), neuropharmaceutical development, and molecular pharmacology techniques. Recent work demonstrates increasing emphasis on antidepressant applications and receptor binding dynamics.

Currently supervised by Jesper L. Kristensen, his laboratory focuses on psychedelic neurochemistry and receptor pharmacology.
