Margo M. Shanks

Margo M. Shanks serves as a Senior Lecturer and Director of the Undergraduate Public Health Program within the Department of Public Health at Baylor University, where she employs engaging teaching methodologies to support student success across all learning needs.

Her academic foundation includes both undergraduate and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees earned at Baylor University, followed by practical experience as a Health Educator with the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District.

Her instructional focus spans critical public health domains:

• Application of Community Health Theories
• Grant Writing and Program Planning

She teaches core curriculum courses including PUBH 3320 (Stress Management & Mental Health), PUBH 3331 (Planning Public and Community Health Programs), PUBH 2332 (Survey of Public Health), PUBH 2331 (Health Concepts and Competencies), and PUBH 2330 (Introduction to Public Health), integrating real-world public health practice into classroom instruction.

In her leadership role as Program Director, she oversees undergraduate curriculum development and provides dedicated student mentorship, leveraging her community health background to strengthen program outcomes and prepare students for public health careers.
